Hmm… you could probably recreate the Metallica logo text with this tutorial. Good job.

You should click on “Commit any current edits” button at the right side of the horizontal menu. (It is a checkmark button)
Alternatively, write your text, select the background layer, select your text layer again and the right click on th text.
