Top 10 Photoshop Tutorials of 2005
Since we are moving towards 2006 I thought of compiling a list with the best tutorials (imho) of 2005. Of course I haven’t read all of the tutorials written this year, but believe me I have read a large percentage of them. So here we go in no particular order.

Great! However, if you’ll forgive me for flogging the web-standards horse for a minute, the “expanding header” one, while it does achieve its goal, is a LOT easier to do with style sheets. Shame on the author for needlessly using tables!

Not bad, but nothing spectacular either. On the other hand, a new site called Lunacore.com offers some tutorials that are among the best I’ve seen, the matter of detail in the author’s tutorials is astonishing. Have a look yourself.

The photo retouching tutorial puzzles me in one respect; it stresses the importance of selecting the background layer but I don’t see any mention of the other layer shown. What does it do?

The other layer is a brightness/contrast adjustment layer, it’s used to correct the brightness and the contrast of the photo. It isn’t mentioned probably because it isn’t directly related to the photo restoration. You can create a layer like that by going to Layer-> New Adjustment Layer -> Brightness/Contrast.
