Photoshop Tutorials Blog Directory

April 7th, 2006

I was looking for a way to organize all the design resources that I have posted in past posts and the ones that I will post in the future. Wordpress, is a great blog platform but doesn’t really provide an easy way to do that with in an easily “navigatable” (is that a word?). Because of that I decided to add a directory. The directory is not ready yet, I just installed the script with a free template and created the basic categories. Until it is ready and populated with resources I am not going to add a link at this blog’s sidebar. However, if someone wants to add a few links he thinks are noteworthy or even a link to his site he can do that at http://pstutorialsblog.com/directory , I will probably start populating the directory and see if I can create a custom template in a week or so.

Eyedropper Tool – Tip

March 29th, 2006

CreativeGuy has posted a really useful tip about how you can use the eyedropper tool more efficiently. It’s something simple but something that a lot of people that are using Photoshop aren’t aware of. Basically he explains how instead of sampling the color of a single pixel (the default setting) you can choose to sample a 3×3 pixel area or a 5×5 pixel area.

Black and White Photos – Photoshop Video Tutorial

March 25th, 2006

Watch and Learn Photoshop has released another one of their free Photoshop video tutorials. This tutorial describes some nice techniques that you can use to turn your photos to black and white using adjustment layers. These techniques work much better than just desaturating or turning your image to Grayscale mode and the final outcome is much more customizable.

Here is the description of the tutorial according to Watch and Learn Photoshop.

How many of you just convert your images from RGB to grayscale when you want to create a black and white image? How many of you turn to your Hue/Saturation adjustments and completely desaturate the image? Well, in this video, you’ll learn how to take control of your black and white images in a much more effective way.

Free Photoshop Brushes – Ningengirai

March 20th, 2006

Ningengirai.net offers a small but really nice collection of Photoshop brushes. In total there are 8 large brushes sets available for download plus 3 sets of 100*100 pixels brushes that are mainly for icon creation. My favorite of all the brushes sets that Ningengirai offers is by far the Decadent Boxes brush set. It’s really small (just four brushes included) but they are really nice. Along with the brush sets Ningengirai offers for download the image packs from which he created those brushes.

Below is an example from the Decadent Boxes brush set.

Also check out the rest of the site as well, they offer some more goodies for download like textures and Photoshop gradients.
