Create layers from Layer Styles
The people over at CreativeBits have posted an extremely useful Photoshop tip. They explain how you can create layers from layer styles. This technique allows you to modify layer styles in ways that are not available in the Layer Styles menu, like for example applying a filter only to the layer style and not your original layer.
I haven’t tried the way the describe but here is how I do it.
1. Apply your desired layer style
2. Right Click on the small “f” icon in that layer in the layers palette.
3. Choose “Create Layers”
And now you have different styles on different layers. Note that you can not create layers from all styles. For example you can’t create a layer from a Bevel and Emboss style.
